Job Force

I have often heard the stigma of "If your a veteran your more likely to get a job than an equally qualified individual." I see that in today's economy you need to know more about the jobs you are applying for before your interview. I have had an interview here recently where one of the other canidates was 45 minutes late to for his interview and was wearing tie dye shorts and shirt. This was for a management position so I dressed appropriately, tie and shirt nice pants and dress shoes. I was also 15 minutes early for my interview. How is it then that the other guy recieved a position and I have not. I do understand that I am over qualified for the position but I requested entry level anyway to work my way up through management with this particular company. I dont think you can put alot of weight into veteran's getting jobs just because they are veterans. You need a working knowledge of the company and the functions of the applied for position. Also a professional resume helps a little as well. Any comments on how to improve job seeking would be highly appreciated.
